A DRIVER was airlifted to hospital after his car spun out of control and ended up on its roof on a dual carriageway.

The accident happened on the A264 near Horsham just before 8am this morning.

The 68-year-old was travelling towards the Faygate roundabout when his blue Ford Focus hit the central reservation and flipped on to the other side of the road.

The man had to cut free by firefighters before being taken by helicopter to King's College Hospital in London with serious head and leg injuries.

The road was closed for more than three hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Sussex Police are keen to speak to the driver of a dark coloured Mitsubishi pick-up truck who they say may be a significant witness.

Anyone with information is asked to call 0845 6070999.
